Dunkirk Project Installation
Moving the second block is pretty delicate work. It weighs several hundred pounds, had two holes in it (by design) and is undergoing some rapid heat changes. All these factors make it very fragile. The masons use small pry bars to lift it slightly and place ½" steel rods under it to act as rollers. Once that's done it's just a matter of inching it into place with the pry bars.
This is the new block warming up. The two holes are where the blenders go through and into the glass. The existing block has no openings, thus the change out.
Have to put the big clamp on the new block to lift it in place.
Working the block into place takes a good deal of coordination between the guy handling the chain hoist and the two doing the actual positioning.
And with a lot of hard work and a some colorful commentary, the block is finally in place. Now to put it back together.
Mike welds the steel support back together.
Reassembled and ready to install the blenders.
C'mon, let's go see what the blenders look like.
