Fooling Around In Ft. Wayne

Don't fiddle with the camera settings when a train is bearing down on you!

Here is genius at work. We caught this guy coming at us in Payne, Ohio making over 55 mph. The elevator in background would have made for a nice wide angle shot. However, the camera was set for single shot so I changed it to continuous after the top shot. Then I was trying to get the zoom back out to the wide angle. The two shots here are all I got. I really like the MTV style angular composition of the lower shot. I think it really imparts a hurried, disorganized look that completely captures the mood of the moment. I think I'll title this one:

Doh!

When the roads are crummy, I usually drive as Erik's rental car is like a pair of roller skates on ice. As we caught up with the train again, I gave Erik the camera and I paced the front end. This is one of two shots he took out the window. If that damn relay box hadn't been there this would have been a nice shot.
Can't chase 55 mph trains through urban areas legally so when he pulled up to wait for a signal, I got these two shots and we headed home. Really crisp winter light.
