So we started filling the hole...and filling and filling.
48 inches deep and 12+ inches in diameter takes a lot to fill. |

Here go the first shovel-fulls. Erik has the vibrator under control.

With a little cement in the bottom, we set the rebar cage in place. It was a fine piece of engineering. Click here to see it before installation.

Finally we had it somewhat full and then I ran out of cement. Quick trip to Lowe's for another ten bags. We're almost done.

We set the J-bolt fixture in place and finished the fill. Here is a picture of the fitxture the night before. Those are 1" diameter stainless steel monsters in there. This should last at least a week!
