Chasing Lakeboats - Toledo, OH and Detroit, MI

| Following information on the Great Lakes and Seaway Shipping page, I was able to catch the Capt. Henry Jackman and the USCG icebreaker Mackinaw during unloading and layover in Detroit. During the weekend I also spent a day in Toledo taking pictures of some of the boats in layup there. The weather was cold and windy but otherwise clear making for good light. All in all a pretty successful weekend. | |||||||||||||||||||
| My first shots Saturday were in Toledo on the Maumee River. The Willis B. Boyer is a museum ship semi-permanently moored. The Buckeye is there for winter lay-up and will return to service later this spring. Click the image to see a larger version of each picture. | |||||||||||||||||||

| Of course, I can't go anywhere without finding a train or two. It just wouldn't be a proper road trip. This guy was headed south while the train on the adjacent track waited for him to clear so he could follow with a string of grainers. | |||||||||||||||||||

I needed to pick up some things so it was off to Radio Shack and head north.
