| The North American AT-6 is a WW 2 era plane used for advanced training of pilots. Ordered in 1937, it is equipped with a 600 hp Pratt & Whitney nine cylinder radial engine giving it a top speed of 208 mph. Typical cruise is around 160 mph making it quite a bit faster than your typical Cessna 152! It served in a number of various roles ranging from training to combat. Affectionately known as the "Pilot Maker" the AT-6 has seen service for over 30 years. More than 1,000 are estimated to still be flying today. | ||||||||||
