Or logging?

I wasn't kidding when I said I was making some changes. The brush pile turned out to be more like a compost heap but I pushed it off just the same. The small tree that was there was actually an overgrown weed, gone. The ground was pretty much frozen so leveling the slope was out of the question. That and the 'Cat kept sliding down on the frozen dirt.

This isn't nearly as bad as it looks. The ground was frozen except for the top inch which turned to mud as I worked in the rain. A little work and some grass seed and this will grow back just fine. Especially with all the sun it will get now that there is some space between the trees.

Unfortunately, I created a huge pile of brush and trees to dispose of. Fortunately, I can burn so later in the spring, I'll build some smaller piles and make ashes out of it. Notice there are several sizable trees in the pile. I think I only cut down two with the saw...the others I just bulldozed over. YeeHaa!

And the Day After shot. It actually came out fairly neat. There was a real soft spot about 40 feet long starting just to the right of the wood pile. After the first day it was a mudhole but the freezing temps made it workable and I spent the day Sunday trying to neaten it up and get the drainage right. We'll see how well that came out the first hard rain we get. I think I need a bulldozer to work out the rest of the grading as the ground is too hard for the 'Cat to handle. More fun for another day.
