I want one of those!

And a garage to put it in....

Hey, nice tractor here.....
So after giving me a tour of the grounds on the GP, we head back to park it.  Once that's done Brian walks over and starts eyeing this real nice John Deere 820 next to it.  I figured he was just interested in the tractor.  I was sure surprised when he got on and fired it up!  What do you mean you've got two of these things?  "I couldn't pass it up!" he said, "it was just too good an opportunity."
Showin' off in the afternoon. The 820 is a bit unique as 820's go. This particular group is called a "Black Dash" in reference to the black dash panel for the gauges.  Clever aren't they?  What it indicates is that these were manufactured late in the run before the model year changed (late 1957).  Like cars, the tractors were fitted with all the new goodies for next year but it was sold as this years model.  It makes 75 hp with two cylinders.  There is also a tiny V-4 engine called a "Pony Starter" to crank the diesel.  It is phenomenally cool.  And as for "Real Man(n)" value, the sound this thing makes kicks ass.  Take a few minutes and download this Quick Time of the 820 idling, my truck should sound this good.
Big Green Machine.
Can't pass up an opportunity to do some screwball picture stuff.   I did get some funny looks while I was laying on the ground to shoot this.  All that green...

I know one thing for sure, if Brian ever sells this thing, I hope he remembers to call me FIRST! (hint!)

Greeeeen Acres is the place for me....
Here is Brian doing his imitation of Eddie Albert on the GP.  Tell me he doesn't fit the part.
More tractors, crawlers and engines
