The best laid plans of mice and men...right?
Well, Gopher scared the hell out of us.  The comments I made about the governor previously were rather prophetic...the problem turned out to be in the injector as it was out of adjustment and leaking fuel by the inlet valve.  For those of you who don't know, you speed these things up by feeding them more fuel.  Bad things happen when you can't control fuel flow.

This is a shot of it actually running.  It wasn't long after this that it just started speeding up and off it went.  Brian shut off the fuel and dropped the compression release but it took a while to slow down. Click the picture for a movie clip (9MB) of it running.

We made some adjustments to the injector spring on the front so it had more room to close it down and control the speed.  Or so we thought.  It did it again.
I spent time lapping the fuel inlet valve to prevent fuel leaking in around it.  We started it up a third time and closed the fuel valve almost completely.  It ran for about three minutes and did it again in spectacular fashion.
That was enough of that.  I drained the water out of it and let it sit for the rest of the show.  Brian offered to rebuild the injector for me ( I took him up on that) and I'll have to get the spring arrangement properly repaired.  We'll go from there.
